Abstract
Abstract: This is the first of a series of papers which review the geometric construction of the double affine Hecke algebra via affine flag manifolds and explain the main results of the authors on its representation theory. There are also some simplifications of the original arguments and proofs for some well-known results for which there exists no reference.
